Description of S.P.Q.R.

The phrase S.P.Q.R or (Senatus Populusque Romanus), translating to “Roman Senate and People” was an authoritative symbol employed by the Roman government. It rose to prominence as the official seal of the Senate and the Roman people, representing the legitimacy of the government whilst guaranteeing the order and stability of the Republic, and later of the Roman Empire.
