Description of Silver Achaemenian censer

The Silver Achaemenian censer. Censer burners were important in the rituals of ancient Persia. Before the seated king were two tall-legged silver censers; the incense, placed in a vase filled with charcoal, burned slowly under the lid and the aroma penetrated through specially made cracks. The lid, crowned with a lotus flower (or some other flower), was tied to the censer with a chain.
