Description of The Dog

The Nazca Dog is depicted seated with pointed upright ears, open mouth, four legs, and upward curled tail, this canine geoglyph likely represents domesticated dogs as companions to the Nazca people. They used dogs for protection, hunting, and loyalty. The Nazca Dog may have commemorated the dog’s services, or invoked the dog as a spirit guide in the afterlife to demonstrate continued obedience and devotion in exchange for the gods’ blessings. The Nazca Dog benign quality shows congruence between the Nazca and nature.
