Description of The Spiral

The Spiral and concentric circle geoglyphs reflect the Nazcan cyclical cosmology and concepts of nature and fate spinning endlessly like the cosmos. Among the geoglyphs are numerous spirals, zig-zags, and concentric circles. These motifs reflect the Nazca philosophy of cyclical, interconnected concepts of nature, life, death and rebirth. The perpetual, repetitive, expanding and contracting forms represent the cosmos, fate, and the infinite promise of renewal in proper equilibrium with the gods’ orderly universe. The hypnotic spiraling shapes may have induced spiritual transformation and unity with the eternal forces governing Nazcan lives.
