Description of Zervan
Zervan, in avestian mythology, is the personification of time and space. In the later period, he was understood as the god of time and fate, a bisexual being who gave birth to Ahura Mazda and Angra Mainyu. Zervan, the supreme god of Zurvanism, is also mentioned among other gods in the texts of the Avesta. Zend-Avesta recognizes a single supreme principle of being, which it calls “Eternal Time” (Zervan Akarana); from its depths come Ormuzd and Ahriman, Light and Darkness, who by their struggle form the existence of the present world.
